MORPHIC enhances silicon photonics with micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) to create reprogrammable photonic circuits. This technology aims to enable flexible optical functions, similar to how field-programmable gate arrays operate in electronics.
In MORPHIC, we will enhance an established Silicon Photonics platform with MEMS actuators so photonic circuits can be programmed, and reprogrammed, for a variety of optical functions with built-in redundancy and resilience.
