FRESHINK is an innovative ink that changes color to indicate food freshness, helping consumers make informed decisions about food safety. The project targets the packaged chicken market to reduce food waste through better labeling.
Every year, approximately 30 million tonnes of food is wasted in Europe because it was not consumed before the expirydate.
Currently, expiry date labels do not provide an accurate indication of the food’s freshness, instead reflecting the worstcase scenario of how long a product should be safe to eat.
