The project aims to advance fusidic acid as a potential treatment for onchocerciasis, a neglected tropical disease affecting millions in Sub-Saharan Africa. It will evaluate the drug's efficacy and safety in clinical trials, targeting the elimination of this disease.
Onchocerciasis (river blindness) is a vector-borne, filarial nematode neglected tropical disease (NTD), affecting an estimated 21 million individuals, 99% of which reside within 31 Sub-Saharan African countries.
