ZeroR aims to improve the efficiency of high power light emitting diodes and solar cells by eliminating resistive losses through innovative design modifications. By relocating active regions in semiconductor devices, it seeks to enhance performance and support advancements in solid-state lighting and solar energy.
Joule heating due to electrical resistance associated with current spreading in semiconductors is a significant loss mechanism in modern state-of-the-art high power light emitting diodes (LEDs) and high concentration solar cells.
