This project examines the role of the DKK3 gene in type 2 diabetes mellitus. It investigates how genetic variations affect Wnt signaling pathways in pancreatic cells, which may influence insulin secretion and glucose metabolism.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a complex genetic disorder of largely obscure etiology where alleles at numerous loci are thought to interact with environmental and stochastic cues to induce the phenotype.
