This project examines the portrayal of women as both offenders and victims in Ottoman literature and press. It critiques the male-centric narratives and stereotypes that have historically marginalized women's roles in crime, aiming to amplify their voices and agency through feminist analysis of historical texts.
This project sketches a broader framework for the characterization of women offenders, expression of women crime committing, and their involvement as both victims and offenders in criminal cases not only in fictional narrations of Ottoman literature but also in real cases that made news in the Ottoman press.
