The VOCFire project investigates the impact of forest fires on biogenic volatile organic compound emissions in boreal forests. It aims to understand how fire severity affects plant metabolism and the subsequent release of these compounds.
Boreal Forests are important emitters of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs), which have both warming and cooling effects on the Earth’s climate.
