This project investigates the role of microenvironmental factors on microRNA expression in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) cells. By analyzing CLL cells from various tissues, the aim is to understand how these interactions influence disease progression and identify potential therapeutic targets.
Despite the advancement achieved in the treatment of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), it remains an incurable disease.
The current approach to handle CLL patients is “watch and wait” and the treatment starts when the disease is progressing.
Therefore, one of the major challenges is to find genes responsible for the progression of the disease and discover the mechanisms that influence the expression of these genes.
