This project aims to create a comprehensive database for analyzing Visigothic script, enhancing the study of Latin writing in the Iberian Peninsula. By applying digital techniques, it seeks to establish standardized criteria for palaeographical research and contextual understanding.
The main aim of the proposal is to establish a point of reference for the analysis of Visigothic script, the primary carrier of Latin writing in the Iberian Peninsula from the 8th to the 14th centuries.
To date, most palaeographical analysis of Visigothic script has been conducted using a traditional methodology and following heterogeneous criteria, which has led to subjective results difficult to share or evaluate.
