VIBRANT focuses on developing superparamagnetic nanocontainers for non-invasive imaging and quantification of pancreatic β-cell mass in diabetes patients. This technology aims to enhance early diagnosis and treatment options for diabetes, addressing a critical health challenge in Europe.
Currently, around 30 million people in the enlarged Europe suffer from diabetes, with a prevalence of 7.5% in member states.
In recent years the emergence of type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents is a new and serious health challenge to the youth of Europe, their families and society.
