Vivasure Medical developed the PerQseal platform, a novel method for closing large venotomies using an absorbable patch. This technology aims to reduce complications associated with traditional closure methods, enhancing patient safety during cardiac procedures.
Small venotomies (a hole in the vein to provide access for surgical procedures) are routinely made and closed using manual compression.
As venotomies get bigger it becomes more difficult to close them, leading to complications (blood loss, haematoma, infection and thrombosis).
