VanaPEAT explores the role of vanadium in biological nitrogen fixation within peatlands, crucial carbon sinks. By analyzing peat cores, the project aims to understand nitrogen cycling and trace metal interactions over the last 30,000 years, enhancing our knowledge of ecosystem responses to environmental changes.
Ombrotrophic peatlands are important carbon sinks and sources of greenhouse gases.
