BioArctic Neuroscience is developing a biomarker assay for Parkinson’s disease that aims to provide an early and accurate diagnosis. This assay measures specific forms of alpha-synuclein in cerebrospinal fluid, addressing the critical need for reliable diagnostic tools in neurodegenerative disorders.
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is one of the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorders and a disease with a significant unmet medical need.
World-wide, more than 4.6 million individuals over the age of 50 suffer from PD and it is estimated that the number will more than double by 2030.
The economic impact of the disease is enormous and the estimated annual European cost of PD is 14 billion euros.
