This project investigates how humans determine the urgency of making decisions, particularly in perceptual categorization tasks. Using brain imaging techniques, it aims to identify the neural circuits involved in decision-making processes and how these may differ in individuals prone to impulsive decisions.
A central question in the behavioural, cognitive and neural sciences is how humans choose between available alternatives (Does this patient have flu, or meningitis?
