This project aims to develop a universal quantum simulator using trapped ions to perform advanced quantum simulations. It focuses on creating a comprehensive toolbox for quantum simulation, enabling researchers to predict the behavior of complex quantum systems.
Scientists are beginning to achieve a level of control over quantum systems in the laboratory required to use them to predict the behaviour of other quantum systems i.e. to perform quantum simulations.
This has the potential to solve problems of fundamental importance in many fields of research and technology.
