This project investigates the low temperature behavior of glasses by identifying tunneling two-level systems within them. It aims to control these systems using mechanical measurements, potentially validating existing models of glass behavior.
The explanation for the distinct low temperature behavior of amorphous solids (glasses) is a long-standing open question.
