The UltraMolMag project aims to create new molecular magnets using 4d and 5d metal elements combined with organic radicals. This research seeks to develop high-performance magnets that could replace rare-earth magnets, enhancing material properties for various applications.
Molecule-based magnets are crystalline materials that exhibit magnetic properties analogous to those observed in traditional permanent magnets, but they can also show unique desirable functionalities, including low density, mechanical softness and physical tunability.
