This project aims to measure the electric dipole moment of the electron using ultracold polar molecules, which could provide insights into physics beyond the Standard Model. The research involves creating a slow-moving beam of YbF molecules and employing laser cooling techniques to enhance measurement precision.
The project aims to show that the electron's electric dipole moment (eEDM) could be measured with an unprecedented precision of 10^{-31} e cm by using ultracold polar molecules.
