The TUVOLU project aims to quantify the emissions of biogenic volatile organic compounds from Arctic tundra in response to climate change. It will assess the effects of temperature, vegetation changes, and permafrost thaw on these emissions to improve predictions and understand their impact on air quality and climate.
Biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) influence atmospheric oxidation causing climate feedback thought to be especially significant in remote areas with low anthropogenic emissions, such as the Arctic.
