APR2 is addressing plastic waste recycling with TRIBOSORT, a technology that efficiently separates valuable plastic from ultimate scrap residues. This process aims to improve recycling rates and provide a marketable recycled plastic material.
Plastic is today the 3rd material produced and global production has skyrocketed: from 1.5Mt in 1950 to 322Mt in 2015.
But only 5% of worldwide produced plastic is today recycled, being one of the least recycled material.
Plastic wastes that are not recycled are called Ultimate scrap residues and come mostly from End-of-life vehicles (ELV) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
