The TRIBAL project investigates childhood asthma and its progression into chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in adulthood. By analyzing longitudinal data and biomarkers, it aims to identify early indicators of asthma persistence and potential targets for new treatments.
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways that cause symptoms like wheezing and breathlessness.
In children, asthma is the most common chronic disease and according to the WHO, more than 300 million people are affected globally.
