This project focuses on testing the aerodynamic performance of turbine fan modules in civil turbofan engines. By simulating engine conditions, it aims to improve the design of the transition ducts between high-pressure and low-pressure turbines, enhancing overall engine efficiency.
In the aerodynamics of TVF modules for future UHPE architectures the interaction with the HPT and LPT rotor is one of the major key factors for loss generation and has to be be accounted for already in the design process.
The TVF inlet flow is driven by the HPT characteristics including wakes, secondary flow effects and tip leakage as well as purge flows.
