This project aims to enhance biomedical research capacity at the University of Rijeka by fostering collaboration with European scientists. It focuses on training young researchers and developing facilities to support translational research in cancer and infectious diseases.
One of the major impediments for development of the biomedical research at the University of Rijeka has been the lack of a competitive research environment.
Perhaps this is because many universities in this region retain remnants of the old socialist approach to medical education and research.
