This research explores the impact of foreign charities on the religious identity and leadership of Cambodia's Muslim minorities. It examines how transnational networks from the Middle East and Malaysia have influenced the reconstruction of religious infrastructure and gender relations in the community.
Since the 1993 reinstallment of the monarchy after the devastating rule of the Khmer Rouge and the subsequent Vietnamese occupation, foreign NGOs have been mushrooming in Cambodia.
