The TRACER project investigates the use of wood in Ancient Egypt, focusing on its role in crafting burial equipment and artifacts during the Middle Bronze Age. By employing innovative methodologies, it aims to reveal how woodcraft reflects societal changes in political and religious contexts.
Indigenous and imported wood species were extensively used in Ancient Egypt for manufacturing objects of daily life and equipment for the afterlife, notably statuary and coffins.
Despite the abundance and use throughout Pharaonic history, no global study has been carried out on this material.
