ThermoDynamix investigates the behavior of ultracold mixtures of fermionic lithium and potassium atoms in various dimensions. By using laser trapping techniques, the project aims to understand the dynamics of these particles, supported by theoretical studies and simulations.
In ThermoDynamix, we explore experimentally and theoretically the physics of ultracold mixtures of particles evolving in a different number of dimensions.
We will realize experimentally a mixed-dimensional system by laser trapping an ultracold mixture of fermionic 6Li and 40K atoms.
By tuning the wavelength of the trapping laser, we will create a potential that will almost not affect Lithium, and at the same time will confine strongly the Potassium atoms in one, two or three dimensions to freeze…
