This project explores the effects of stellar magnetic activity on planet formation and detection. It aims to create a database of activity patterns and study how these patterns influence the properties of protoplanetary discs, impacting the formation of planets around cool stars.
Many cool stars are born as rapid rotators, and therefore with a strong dynamo created magnetic field, which manifests itself as a high level of activity including strong flares and coronal mass ejections.
This is the environment in which planets are formed, and it is therefore unavoidable that this activity has a significant impact on the formation and evolution of planetary systems.
