This project investigates how arthropods adapted to terrestrial life, focusing on their evolutionary history and physiological changes necessary for land colonization. It aims to understand the genetic mechanisms behind these adaptations through comparative genomics and paleontology.
Terrestrialization – the colonization of the land habitat by plants and animals – is amongst the most important events in the history of life on Earth.
Understanding terrestrialization is, therefore, key to understanding biological adaptation.
