This project focuses on developing a novel cancer therapy that targets the Myc protein, a key player in tumor growth. By utilizing a unique Myc mutant, Omomyc, the approach aims to inhibit cancer cell proliferation with minimal side effects and no resistance, paving the way for a new treatment for various cancers.
Current cancer therapies target redundant cellular functions often compensated for by cancer cells, resulting in resistance to treatment.
Here we propose an innovative approach to inhibit Myc, a non-redundant and “most-wanted” therapeutic target for human cancer.
Targeting Myc has long been considered unfeasible because of the potentially catastrophic side effects in normal tissues.
