This project aims to create a lightweight, disposable electrochemical biosensor that operates autonomously by integrating a bioreceptor within a fuel cell. It targets cancer biomarkers, providing a portable diagnostic tool that functions without external power sources.
Biosensors possess recognition elements that bind to target molecules which lead to detectable signals; they are made of two basic components: (i) a bioreceptor or biorecognition element; and (ii) a transducer element.
