This project investigates the symbiotic relationship between Rhizobium bacteria and legume plants to enhance nitrogen fixation and develop new antibiotics. It aims to understand the genetic and cellular mechanisms that improve crop yields and combat antibiotic resistance.
With an unprecedented increase in the human population, higher agricultural production, enhanced food safety and the protection against alarming rise of antibiotic resistant pathogenic bacteria are amongst the main challenges of this century.
