The SWISSMODICS project develops a miniature, ultra-thin camera for detecting delamination in aircraft composite structures. This innovative diagnostic tool enables in-operation monitoring, significantly reducing aircraft immobilization time and enhancing safety through continuous assessment of structural integrity.
Shocks on a composite structure of an aircraft can propagate and generate delamination at a distant place.
There is currently no other method than regular inspection of the structure to detect these delamination, which requires to immobilize the aircraft.
The SWISSMODICS project ambitions to answer the lack of efficient diagnostic tools by providing a miniature, ultra-thin camera to be incorporated in the composite structure of an aircraft where delamination risk to occur.
