The SWIFT project aims to enhance awareness and dissemination of the GMES initiative among EU citizens and policymakers. It provides support to collaborative projects to maximize their outreach and communication efforts, ensuring the effective promotion of Earth observation services.
GMES has a crucial role to play in the achievement of major high-level policy objectives such as Sustainable Development, The Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Lisbon Strategy.
However, although information dissemination is a critical enabler for achieving the expected impacts of the FP7 Space Programme and of its individual components, GMES has suffered from a lack of awareness among EU citizens and policy makers.
