This project aims to enhance understanding of urban heat islands (UHI) by developing a new method to estimate land surface temperatures with high accuracy and resolution. It will analyze UHI variations across 24 European cities to support urban planning and health initiatives, especially under extreme heat conditions.
The fast growing of cities population in the last decades, which is projected to be continued in the following, requires a better understanding of urban climatology and atmospheric conditions, looking for the benefit of citizens life.
