This project aims to advance the detection of microwave radiation at the single photon level using superconducting bolometers. By developing nanoscale thermal detectors, the research seeks to enhance sensitivity for applications in quantum technologies, including qubit readout and quantum thermodynamics.
Detecting microwave radiation, down to the single photon level, is a central challenge in modern quantum technologies.
In recent years, a promising route has been envisioned, largely inspired by an ubiquitous technique in high-energy photon detection: bolometry.
