This project investigates how psychological stress and aging affect DNA methylation, which may influence the risk of age-related diseases. It aims to uncover molecular mechanisms that could lead to better prevention strategies and treatments.
Ageing-related diseases are the leading causes of morbidity and mortality. A ubiquitous and potentially preventable factor predisposing to their development is psychological stress, but the molecular mechanisms underlying this relation are largely unknown.
