This project examines how acute mental stress influences plaque inflammation in atherosclerosis, a major cause of heart disease. By studying the mechanisms involved, it aims to develop new treatment strategies to reduce stress-related cardiovascular risks.
Atherosclerosis and its complications such as acute coronary syndromes (myocardial infarction and unstable angina) are leading causes of death in the EU and worldwide.
