The START program aims to investigate the neural mechanisms underlying conscious access to information. By combining various brain imaging techniques, it seeks to understand how the brain processes relevant stimuli and the variability in conscious recognition across individuals.
The ability to consciously recognise faces, objects, or sounds is crucial for adaptive behaviour and survival.
