The Synthesis of pi-magnetic molecular materials project aims to develop new π-magnetic molecules that can be produced in bulk outside ultra-high vacuum conditions. These molecules will be integrated into functional materials and devices, enabling applications such as organic light-emitting diodes and Faraday rotators.
On-surface generation and characterization under ultra-high vacuum (UHV) of π-conjugated graphenic frameworks that have open-shell electronic structure, π-magnetism, have been an advanced and active area of research since the successful nanoscale fabrication of triangulene in 2017.
