This project aims to advance insect tracking technology to study pollinator movements in three dimensions. By miniaturizing transponders and enhancing radar capabilities, it seeks to provide insights into pollinator navigation and interactions, which are vital for understanding ecosystem dynamics.
Current radar tracking technology to monitor insect movements in space allows us to catch only glimpses of their spatial movements – it is severely constrained by the restricted range that can be covered, the fact that individuals can only be tracked one at a time, and the lack of a height dimension.
