The SpaceMet project investigates how metabolic differences in liver metastases affect the behavior of CD8+ T cells, which are crucial for cancer immunotherapy. By analyzing these unique environments, the project aims to enhance the effectiveness of immune-based treatments for melanoma and potentially other cancers.
While immune-based therapies targeting CD8+ T cells have transformed melanoma treatment, many patients still show inconsistent responses between primary tumors and metastases, particularly in the liver.
