The SOLARFUELS project aims to develop silicon carbide nanowires for efficient solar fuel production through the reduction of carbon dioxide and water. It focuses on creating large-scale synthesis methods and innovative devices to enhance the performance and cost-effectiveness of these materials.
By 2020, the European Union aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20-30% and increase renewable energy share to 20%.
This scenario has imposed urgent needs to develop fossil fuel alternatives like solar fuels.
