This project investigates the impact of early life experiences on the behavior and health of wild banded mongooses. By conducting field experiments, it aims to understand how prenatal development influences cooperation, stress responses, and overall fitness in social mammals.
Studies of cooperative animal societies have advanced understanding of social evolution but have also revealed great individual variation in cooperative behaviour and major life history traits, even among individuals of the same age, sex and social status.
