The SOCIALEU project explores how EU social policies can influence public support for European integration. It examines the potential of redistributive social policies to shift attitudes among Eurosceptic citizens and enhance their support for the EU through qualitative research and surveys in France and Spain.
Present scholarship insufficiently addresses the linkages between Euroscepticism and supranational solidarity.
On the one hand, scholars studying Euroscepticism argue that the lack of perceived benefits of the integration process explains EU citizens' opposition to their country membership in the union.
