The SOCIAL project investigates the relationship between civil society and the state in the context of increasingly autonomous social sectors. It aims to develop a new framework for understanding transnational societal constitutionalism, drawing on Hegelian philosophy and contemporary legal pluralism.
Contemporary political philosophy must address the rise of autonomous social sectors (economy, media, science) that escape state regulation by expanding beyond national borders and that challenge traditional forms of politics.
