The SMR project investigates the use of synthetic polysaccharides, RGTA®, as a neuroprotective treatment for ischemic stroke. It aims to translate promising preclinical results into a viable medical solution for stroke patients, potentially improving recovery outcomes.
Stroke is the 2nd cause of death and major handicaps in industrialized countries.
At present, the only available treatment for ischemic stroke are thrombolysis and thrombectomy.
