The SIMTISYS project develops a system for detecting and tracking small vessels to enhance maritime surveillance. It aims to provide a tool for monitoring maritime borders, traffic safety, and pollution management, integrating various operational scenarios and technologies.
Within the framework of the FP7 3° call several policies are related to the maritime surveillance for safety purposes as border surveillance, traffic safety, fishery control and environmental protection and monitoring (i.e. sea platform infrastructures and sea ports).Within all these policies the detection and the tracking of small vessels assumes a central strategic issue.
