The SHINE project focuses on advancing large solar heating systems to meet European heat demands. It aims to overcome technical and socio-economic challenges through interdisciplinary training for PhD students, fostering collaboration between academia and industry to enhance solar thermal technology applications.
Large solar heating systems are decisive to cover a major part of European low temperature heat demand by solar energy and therewith to meet European policy aims.
However, today only a negligible share of solar heating systems installed in Europe are large units due to manifold technical and socio-economic obstacles.
