This research investigates the social behaviors of bacteria in long-term infections, focusing on how these behaviors evolve and affect virulence. The project aims to develop new intervention strategies that leverage evolutionary theory to address bacterial infections more effectively.
Micro-organisms were believed until recently to live independent, unicellular lives but are now understood to rely on complex systems of social behaviours for survival.
