This project investigates the interplay between security, religion, and nationalism in Southeast Asia, focusing on the Philippines, Indonesia, and Myanmar. It aims to understand how states use religion in national security policies and the impact on religious minorities, particularly through a gendered lens.
The rise of religiously inspired extremism and violence, particularly since 9/11, has underscored the crucial and abiding three-way linkages between security, religion, and nationalism (hereafter, SRN).
